🚌💛 National School Bus Safety Week 2025 💛🚌
📅 October 20–24
🎯 Theme: “Safe Stops. Stronger Communities.”
Every day, millions of students ride the big yellow bus—the safest way to and from school. But safety doesn’t stop at the bus doors. It takes all of us—drivers, parents, educators, and community members—to protect every journey.
🚨 Did you know?
Drivers illegally pass stopped school buses over 39 million times each year. Every violation puts a child’s life at risk.
Let’s commit to:
✅ Stopping when the bus stop-arm is extended
✅ Slowing down in school zones
✅ Staying alert around bus stops
✅ Teaching kids safe bus behavior
This week, we honor our JES bus drivers and raise awareness to keep our students safe at every stop. Together, we build stronger communities through safer choices.

We were thrilled to welcome the talented performers from Pensacola Opera to our school yesterday! Our pre-K through 3rd grade students had a wonderful time experiencing the magic of live performance and learning more about the world of opera. 🦁💙

🎀 Red Ribbon Week 2025 🎀
📅 October 20-24
Next week, we stand together to promote healthy, drug-free lifestyles and empower our students to make positive choices. ❤️
Each day, we’ll celebrate with themed dress-up days and important conversations about making safe and respectful decisions.
Let's ROAR with school spirit and pride as we commit to living drug-free and making healthy choices! ❤️ 🦁
“Be Kind to Your Mind. Live Drug Free.”

Each year, the JES Jr. Beta Club collects pop tabs to donate to the Ronald McDonald House, which helps families stay close to their hospitalized children.
💡 How You Can Help:
Save your pop tabs and bring them to Mrs. Macht anytime during the school year. Every tab makes a difference!
Let’s make this year’s collection the biggest yet! 💪❤️

This year’s theme is “Taste the World: Your School Lunch Passport!” 🌍✈️
From October 13–17, we’re celebrating the global flavors that make our school lunches exciting, nutritious, and fun!

No school for students.

School Board Meeting Thursday! Woodlawn Beach Middle School at 5:30.

Hi! My name is Amber Lunsford, and I am thrilled to be a teacher at Jay Elementary! I grew up in Chumuckla and graduated from Pace High, then the University of West Florida in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. I love seeing children learn and grow! I have 15+ years of experience teaching and working with children in a volunteer setting. I have spent the last 12 years working in marketing and accounting, and I am so excited to finally be combining my professional career with my enthusiasm for children and learning. My husband, Tanner, is a manager at Emerald Coast Growers and we have three children that all attend JES - one in kindergarten, one in third grade, and one in fourth grade. Outside of work, I enjoy being outdoors, fishing, reading, and coaching soccer. I am actively involved in church, where I have been the preschool director for over eight years. I am so excited about this new journey and cannot wait to meet you all! 💙🐾🤍

This morning, an incident took place in our parking lot during student drop-off. This incident did not involve any Jay Elementary staff members. This incident was a non-school-related matter that involved law enforcement that occurred on our school campus.
All students and staff are safe, and the school day is continuing as normal. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement as they handle the situation.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
